How can I improve the quality of my sleep cycles?

Improving sleep quality — a peaceful person sleeping in a moonlit bedroom with plants on the windowsill

Keep a consistent bedtime and wake-up time, including on weekends. Allow at least seven hours for sleep and create a quiet, dark, cool and comfortable bedroom. Reduce bright screens before bed, avoid caffeine later in the day and limit alcohol near bedtime. Regular exercise and morning daylight can strengthen your sleep-wake rhythm, although intense exercise immediately before bed may affect some people. Use a calming routine to signal that the day is ending. Avoid large meals shortly before sleep and manage noise with earplugs or white noise when needed. Focus less on achieving perfect tracker scores and more on daytime alertness. Persistent snoring, breathing pauses, insomnia or exhaustion may require evaluation by a healthcare professional.
